INGREDIENTS
1. Ragi (finger millet) – 4 cups
2. Idli rice – 1 cup
3. Whole Urad dal – 1 cup
4. Fenugreek seeds – 2 tsp
5. Salt as needed
6. Oil -2 tbsp
7. Mustardseeds – 1 tsp
8. Chana dal – 1 tsp
9. Urad dal – 1 tsp
Method for batter
1. Wash and soak idli rice, ragi, urad dal and fenugreek seeds for 5 hours. Grind well until smooth and fluffy. I used the wet grinder for grinding.
2. Then add salt needed and mix well. Keep aside for 5-6 hours to ferment depending on the climate. The batter must rise at least slightly
Method for Idli
3. Now place pan on your stove and add 2 tbsp oil. add 1 tsp mustard seeds. Once it is popped, add 1 tsp chana dal & urad dal,
4. Switch off the flame and transfer into batter and mix it well.
5. Place idli maker on your stove and fill bottom of vessel with water.
6. Place idli plate and pour in the batter and steam cook for 10 minutes.
7. Check with knife. Insert and if it comes out clean then your idli is cooked.
8. Serve this Hot and healthy ragi idli with your favorite sambar and chutney.
