Vatha kulambu/வத்தல் புளி குழம்பு/Dried Turkey berry Gravy/சுண்டைக்காய் வத்தல் குழம்பு/
Description :
1. Soak tamarind in hot water. Extract pulp and keep aside. Heat a pan with oil add dried turkey berry and fry till becomes crispy and keep it aside.
2. Heat a pan with oil. Add sambar onions, garlic pods saute it turns translucent, add tomatoes. and add turmeric powder and salt. Transfer to the plate. Once cool, transfer the roasted ingredients to a mixie jar and grind to a smooth paste .
3. Heat a pan. Add 3 tbsp gingelly oil. Add Hing, mustard seeds, once it splutters add fenugreek seeds, whole red chillies and channa dal.
4. After it gets roasted add the sambar onions, garlic pods, curry leaves, Dried turkey berry. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
5. Add sambar powder, red chilli powder, and tamarind pulp. If it is too thick, add ¼ cup water approx., Mix well and let it come to a boil. Close the pan with a lid and cook for 3 to 4 mins over low flame.
6.Add the ground paste and mix well oil starts to ooze out. This may take 10 to 15 minutes. Finally add jaggery mix it well and take off stove.
Serve with hot rice with vadams or appalam for side dish
