Tomato biryani in tamil/தக்காளி பிரியாணி /Thakkali biryani/Tomato briyani/Thakkali briyani/

Description :

Method

1. In a biryani pot heat 1 tbsp ghee and tbsp oil saute 1 bay leaf, 1-inch cinnamon, 4 cloves, 1 star anise, 3 pods cardamom, 1 mac, 1 javitri, 1 tsp peppercorns 1 tsp cumin and 1 tsp fennel.

2. add 2 onion and saute well, add 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and 2 green chillies.

3. add 1 cup tomato puree (tomato puree prepared by blending 5 large tomatoes to smooth paste)

4. cook on medium flame till the tomato paste thickens and releases oil.

5. add ½ tsp turmeric, 2 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder and salt to taste.

6. saute until the spices get cooked completely. Add mint leaves and sauté well.

7. add ¼ cup curd mix well.

8. add 1 cup basmati rice, soaked 30 minutes and give a good mix. then add 2 cups water mix well.

9. cover and cook for 10 minutes on medium flame or till the rice gets cooked completely.

10. serve tomato biryani with onion raita.

Note : Incase if you cook pressure cooker means cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame or till the rice gets cooked completely.
