Description :
For Batter:
Idly batter – 1 cup
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1 cup
salt as required
Water – 1/4 cup or as needed
For Filling:
Jaggery – 1/2 cup
Cooked Chana Dal / Kadalai Paruppu – 1 cup
Water – 2.5 cup
Coconut – 1/4 cup grated
Cardamom Powder / Yelakai podi- 1 tsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Method
1. Take Chana dal in a pressure cooker, add in 2.5 cup of water. Pressure cook for 7 whistle and set aside.
2. In a bowl add cooked chana dal, jaggery, grated coconut , cardamom powder, ghee and mix well. add this mixture in a pan
Keep cooking this till it is thick. switch off the flame and allow it to cool down.
3. Divide it into small balls.
4. Make batter, by mixing flour and water to a smooth batter.
5. Heat oil for deep frying. Dip the ball in flour batter and deep fry till crispy..
Our Traditional susiyam is ready to eat!!!
