Potato fry in tamil/Urulai kizangu varuval/Potato fry/உருளைக் கிழங்கு வறுவல்/Urulai kilangu fry

Ingredients

Potatoes – 250 gram
Cooking oil – 4 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Method

1. Wash the potatoes and peel. Slice to small thin circles

2. Keep them in a bowl of water until we used.

3. Heat oil in a cooking vessel. Once the oil turns hot, add the mustard seeds and allow to splutter. Add urad dal and chana dal
and curry leaves and mix.

4. Immediately add the sliced potatoes.

5. Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, pepper powder and salt and mix. Saute well.

6. Place lid and cook till the potatoes turn soft and crispy, approx 10 mins on medium flame.

7. Stir in between to prevent burning. You can also add more oil for better roasting

8. Turn off flame and serve with rice or sambar rice.
