Onion tomato chutney / red chutney for thattu vadai set / thattu vadai set chutney recipe

Ingridient
Shallots – 1 cup
Tomato – 1 no
Red chilies – 4 nos
Garlic – 4 nos
Tamarind – small amla size
Salt as required

Method

1. Heat the oil lower flame.Add the shallots, garlic and red chilies saute till light brown,add the tomatoes.

2. Saute till tomatoes become soft.pulpy and completely cooked.the rawness of the tomatoes should go away. Otherwise you will get the raw aroma of the tomatoes in the chutney.

3. now add tamarind and salt. saute for a minute. switch off the flame. Cool this onion tomato mixture and then grind in a chutney grinder. no need to add water while grinding.

4. pour the chutney in a serving bowl

5. You can temper the chutney with mustard seeds,urad dal, channa dal,red chilly and curry leaves. but without the tempering also the chutney tastes good.

6. Serve onion tomato chutney with thattu vadai , idly, Dosa and Paniyaram
