Description :

Method

1. peal the yam and chop it into small cubes. pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame till the yam is nicely cooked. keep it aside

2. coarsely grind coconut, red chilies along with a tsp of mustard seeds. do not add any water, the masala should be dry. keep it aside
3. soak the tamarind in warm water for few minutes and extract the juice.in a cooking pan, add a 1.5 tsp of oil and add mustard seeds. once the mustard seeds splutter add red chilly, urad dal and chana dal,curry leaves saute till its turn to golden then add turmeric powder mix it well and add cooked yam.
4. now add jaggery, tamarind extract and salt to the the kadai and mix well. cook on a low flame till all the tamarind extract is absorbed well.

5. when the yam are well cooked and it has absorbed the tamarind extract completely. it is time to add the ground masala and mix well. add grated coconut, coriander leaves and 1 tbsp of coconut oil stir for some time and turn off the flame.

Our Yam masala is ready to be served.
