Description :

Ingredient
Vallarai Keerai/Brahmi leaves – 1 cup
Sesame Oil – 3 tbsp (sesame seed oil preferable)
Chana dal – 3 tbsp
Urad dal – 2 tbsp
Red chilies – 5 nos
Shallots – 10 nos
Garlic – 10 pods
Tomato – 1 no
Coconut – 4 tbsp (grated)
Salt to taste

For temper
Sesame oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Red chilies – 3 nos
Curry leaves – 3 spring

Method
Wash the greens (use the leaves alone) and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add chana dal, urad dal and red chillies.

When dal turns golden brown add curry leaves, remove the kadai and keep it aside.

Heat oil in the another kadai, add chana dal, urad dal and red chilies. Saute well till dal turns golden brown.

Now add pearl onions and garlic pods saute until it turns transparent.

Now add tomato sauté till turn mushy.

Now add the brahmi leaves and saute on low heat until it wilts and the raw flavor goes.

Add coconut and saute for a few more minutes.

switch off the heat. Once it cools, grind it a little coarse with needed salt adding very less water.

Now add the tempering and mix well.

Our healthiest vallarai keerai thuvaiyal is ready to eat.

It goes well with hot rice, dosa and idli.
