ரொம்ப ரொம்ப சுவையான சில்லி மீன் / Chilli fish / Fish fry recipe

Description :

Ingredients for Marination and Batter:

Fish Fillet (Malabar Trevally) 500 grams
Ginger Garlic (crushed) 1 tbsp
Pepper Powder 1 tsp
Chili Powder 1 tsp
Salt as required
Vinegar 1 tsp
Corn Flour 2 tbsp
Maida/ Plain Flour 2 tbsp
Soy sauce 1 tsp

Ingredients for Gravy:

Green Chili 3 nos.
Garlic – 2 pods
Spring onion (white part) 2 tbsp
Onion 1 big
Pepper Powder 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Capsicum/ Bell Pepper
(Green , Red & Yellow colour) ¼ cup (each colour)
Soy Sauce 1 tbsp
Red Chili sauce 1 tbsp
Tomato ketchup 1 tbsp
Vinegar 1 tsp
Corn Flour slurry ¼ cup
Spring Onion (green part) For garnishing

Method:

1. Clean the fish fillets and cut into cubes. Marinate with little salt, Crushed Ginger Garlic, Pepper powder, Chili Powder and vinegar. Keep aside for 20 minutes.

2. Mix the Corn flour, Maida, and Soy sauce to make a smooth batter (not very thick). Combine the marinated fish pieces in this and deep fry in oil till golden brown. Keep aside.

3. Add 2 tbsp oil and add the chopped garlic, sliced green chilies and spring onion. Sauté for few seconds and add the cubed Onions. Now add the Cubed Capsicum and sauté for little time.

4. Add the pepper Powder, chili powder and little salt and roast for few seconds.

5. Add the Soy sauce, Red Chili Sauce, tomato ketchup and vinegar mix well.

6. Now add corn flour slurry (In ¼ cup of water add 1 tbsp Corn Flour mix well without lumps) and pour to the gravy. Stir to make thick gravy and adjust the salt.

7. Now add the fried fish pieces and combine well.

8. Lastly add the chopped spring onion greens and serve hot with Fried rice

Note:
• Fish takes less cooking time. You can deep fry or shallow fry the fish as per your choice.

• The Onions and capsicum should not be overcooked so just stir fry for a minute to make it crispy.

• Always be careful with salt while making Chinese dishes as the sauces are salty.
