நெத்திலி கருவாடு குழம்பு / Nethili karuvadu kulambu / கருவாட்டு குழம்பு / Dried anchovy gravy

Ingredients:
Anchovy Dried Fish / Nethili Karuvadu – 200 gram
Sesame oil – 4 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves two sprig
Garlic – 20 cloves peeled
Shallots – ¼ cup sliced thinly
Green Chilli – 2 slit
Tomatoes – 2 nos
Drum stick – 1 nos
Boiled field beans – 1 cup
Brinjal – 2 sliced
Yam – ¼ cup sliced
Raw mango – 1 no sliced
Plaintain – ½ sliced
Salt to taste
Tamarind Pulp – 4 tbsp (I used kudampuli)
Thick Coconut Milk – 1 cup
For masala paste
Shallots – 10 nos
Red chili powder – 2 tbsp
Coriander Powder– 1 tbsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder– ½ tsp
Cumin Powder– 1 tsp
Water as needed
Method:
Clean dry fish by removing the head and scraping the gills. Now add hot boiling water over this and soak it for 20 mins. Drain and set aside.
Soak field bean for 8 hours and cook until soft. set aside.
For masala paste
In a mixie jar add Above said masala paste ingredients and gind to fine paste. set aside
1. Heat sesame oil in kadai.
2. Add in mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and saute for a min.
3. Add in onion,garlic and green chilies. Saute till they turn translucent.
4. Add tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy.
5. Add masala paste sauté till they raw smell gone out.
6. Add sliced vegetables and sauté for 2 minutes.
7. Add tamarind water and salt. mix it well.
8. Add required water and bring it to boil, cover and cook until vegetables is half cooked.
9. Add dried fish and simmer for 15 mins.
10. Add coconut milk and boil once. Taste to see if you need salt and adjust it.
11. Turn off the heat and add in curry leaves.
12. Serve over hot rice.
