Ingrdients: (to serve 2-3 people)
Yam (Chenaikkizhangu) – 1 small size
Chilli powder – 1 Teaspoon
Coriander Powder – 1/2 tea spoon
Cumin powder – 1/4 tea spoon
Salt – 3/4 Tea spoon
Garlic – 5-6 Large cloves or 10-12 small cloves

Method :
1. Cut the yam into small square shaped pieces, approximately 1 inch in size and 1/4 centimetre in thickness. Wash it well and soak in 3 cups of water for 15-30 minutes.
2. Grind the garlic in a mixer jar along with the chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and 3 tablespoons of water into a thick and smooth paste and keep it ready.
3. Drain the yam pieces from the water and take it in a bowl and add the prepared spice mixture to it and mix well.
4. Heat 6 tablespoons of oil in a flat pan and add curry leaves, the yam mixture and 1/3 cup of water and close it with a lid and cook in medium flame for 7 minutes, until the yam is 75% cooked.
5. Once all the moisture is absorbed, open the lid and cook in low flame without lid for another 10-12 minutes until the yam is completely cooked and becomes crispy.
6. Serve hot sambar rice, curd rice or any rice and curry.
