Ingrdients: (to serve 2-3 people)
Rice – 2 cups
Black Urid dal (udaitha ulundhu – karuppu thodu ulladhu) – 1/3 cup
Urid dal (udaitha ulundhu – thodu illadhadhu) – 1/3 cup
Fenugreek – 4 teaspoons
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Garlic – 30 cloves (big)
Dry ginger powder (chukku podi) – 2 tablespoons
Method :
1. Wash both the urid dals and ad it in a pressure cooker, along with the fenugreek, garlic and 6 cups of water.
2. Pressure cook for 3 whistles and open it once the pressure settles.
3. Add the washed rice and 2 teaspoons of salt and pressure cook in medium flame for another 4-5 whistles.
4. Allow the pressure to settle down and open the cooker and add the grated coconut and dry ginger powder.
5. Switch on the flame again and mix well for a minute and then switch it off.
6. Serve hot with fish curry.
