Ingredients:
Javvarisi (sago / sabudhana) – 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 1/3 cup
Gram flour (kadalai maavu / besan) – 1cup
Onion – 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
ginger – 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
green chillies – 1 teaspoon (finely chopped)
Baking soda / Soda salt – 1/8 teaspoon
salt – 1 teaspoon
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon (finely chopped)
curry leaves – few (finely chopped)
Method:
1. Soak the javvarisi in 2 cups of water for 2 hours
2.Drain the javvarisi and take it in a large bowl and add all the other ingredients and mix together.
3. Next add water as required (approximately 1/4 cup).Prepare the mixture in a vada batter consistency and allow to rest for 15 minutes.
4. Heat oil in a pan and add the prepared mixture using a spoon or hand into round vadas and fry till golden brown and remove.
5. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
6. You can also prepare it as a pakkoda by reducing the water and preparing it as a dry mixture and use only 3/4th of the rice flour and gram flour.
