Ingredients:
Ravai (sooji) – 1 cup
sugar – 1/2 cup
condensed milk – 2 tablespoons
cashew – 2 tablespoons (chopped)
raisins(kaindha thiratchai / kismis) – 1 tablespoon
Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon or 5 whole cardamom(elakkai)
Method:
1. Add 1 tablespoon ghee in a pan and when it is hot, add the rava(sooji) and fry in low to medium flame for 4-5 minutes taking care not to brown the rava.
2. When it turns golden colour, switch off the flame and transfer it into another bowl and allow it cool down to room temperature.
3. In a mixer jar, add the sugar (and cardamom, if using whole cardamom), and grind it into a fine powder.
4. In the same pan, we used to fry rava, add 2 tablespoons of ghee and when it is hot, add the cashew and raisins and fry until it becomes golden colour and keep it aside ready.
5. Now add the powdered sugar, cardamom powder, condensed milk, fried cahews and raisins along with the ghee and mix together.
6. Now the laddu mixture is ready. Form round sized laddus using your hand and make sure to seal it very tightly as it can break easliy.
7. Simple and quick rava laddu is ready.
