Ingredients:
1/2 cup split yellow Moong dal, washed
1/2 cup unsalted butter or ghee
1/2 heaping cup sugar (use ½ cup + 2 tbsp more)
1/8 teaspoon cardamom powder
Pinch of saffron
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of sliced almonds for garnish

    I like ur cooking post.I had one query.yesterday I made moong daal halwa I had added lot of ghee but it was not fully roasted.I had sugar .But it was not gud in taste as it need to roast more.Now I added sugar .how can I do for this halwa for better taste I mean to roasted taste after adding sugar or how can I used this halwa as I added lot of ghee in it.thanks

  • @Anurag Gosain – well, about a fortnight back, I prepared basin halwa following the same procedure. It came out quite well. I had used two and a half cup of water for preparing the sugar syrup, which made it a little loose consistency. Six of us ate it!

  • A couple of days back, I prepared Moongdaal Halwa again. This time, I faithfully followed the recipe described and demonstrated in this video. The outcome was identical to the one shown in the video, except that it was less brown in shade. But, the taste was appealing. It was a good learning experience. I am thinking of shortly experimenting with Bengal Gram and make Halwa.
