Besan ke Ladoo | How to make Besan Ladoo | Indian Sweet | Ganesh Chathurthi | Cooking Addiction.
Description :
Festivals are incomplete without sweets and in India festivals are incomplete without ladoos.
Ladoo is an Indian sweet, can be made using various ingredients and is round in shape. Seriously we make ladoos out of so many ingredients, there’s motichoor ladoo, aata ladoo, coconut ladoo, semolina ladoo, this ladoo that ladoo and this list is endless.
Out of all these amazing ladoos, besan ladoo is my absolute favorite. It is made using chickpea flour which is called besan in Hindi. So yeah, stay away for this if you are allergic to nuts.
I LOVE it a lot. In fact back home during Diwali, I would always scan through the sweet boxes to see if any one of them had besan ladoo in them.
Even though one can get these ladoos at almost every sweet shop in India, they don’t always taste good. At least that’s what my personal experience is. What I don’t like about store bought besan ladoos is the addition of semolina (sooji/rava). It is so commonly added in besan ladoos to give them a crunchy texture but somehow I can only love the plain ladoos, made only out of besan.
And the besan ladoos that I loved most was that my nani (maternal grandmother) used to make. They were simply the best.
This ganesh chathurthi I tried making besan ladoos like her and they turned out quite well even though I know they can never match her version. :- )
Wishing everyone a very Ganesh Chthurthi. May lord ganesha fill your home and hearts with love and happiness!
Ingredients & Quantity
Chickpea flour (Besan) – 250 Gms
Clarified Butter – 100 Ml
Granulated white sugar (Powdered) – 100 gms
Water – 1 Tbsp
Cardamon Powder – 1 tbsp
Method,
1) In a pan heat 100 ml of clarified butter (ghee). once its slightly hot, add gram flour little by little and stir fry over medium flame.
2) Roast the gram flour till golden brown color for 10 – 15 mins.
(The besan would start to give nice nutty aroma and will start releasing ghee. it takes some time so keep patience because if you try to increase the flame it will burn)
3) Add the chopped nuts and mix well, Sprinkle 1 tbsp of water, now you will notice that the mixture is turning crumbly and that exactly what i want.
4) Now remove the mixture in a plate and cool for 10 – 15 mins. it should be little warm but not hot, because if you add the sugar while its hot it will melt and the ladoos won’t hold its shape.
5) Now add the cardamon powder and sugar and mix thoroughly.
6) Take a small amount of the mixture in your palm and press it with your fingers to make a small round ball.
7) Use the entire mixture to form ladoos while the mixture is still warm.
8) Garnish the ladoos with chopped nuts.
9) Your’ll cam store the ladoos in air tight containers or jars to consume later.
