Learn how to make vattayappam, which is a Christmas / Easter favorite

Ingredients for making appam

To grind

Raw rice / Basmati rice – 1 cup
Cooked rice – 1/4 cup
Thick coconut milk – 3/4 to 1 cup
Sugar – 1/4 to 1/2 cup (depending upon sweetness)
Cardamom powder – I have used 3 cardamom pods here to make
cardamom powder
Salt – as needed

For proofing yeast

Yeast – 1/4 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Warm water – 1/4 cup

For Garnishing

Ghee – 2 tsp
Cashewnuts – 2 tsp
Raisins – 2 tsp
