Tomato kuruma in tamil/தக்காளி குருமா/Coimbatore style tomato kuzambu for idli and dosa

Ingredients
• 6 Tomatoes
• 1 onion
• 3 Garlic
• Ginger – small piece
• 1 sprig Curry leaves
• 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
• 4 tablespoon sesame oil
• Salt , to taste
• Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
• Water as required
For the ground mixture
• 1tsp fennel seeds
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp coriander seeds
• 1 tsp peppercorns
• 4 tbsp Fresh coconut , grated
• 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
• 3 Red Chilies
Method
1. Dry roast the ingredients given under ‘ ground masala ‘ keep it aside.
2. In a pan heat 2 tbsp of sesame oil and add the, garlic and ginger. Saute’ well. cover and cook in low flame till the tomatoes become mushy. once it turns mushy switch off and let it cool.
3. In a mixer jar add dry roasted ground masala and tomato mix grind with little water to a fine paste.
4. In the same pan, heat the 2 tbsp of sesame oil and add 1 tsp of mustard seeds and curry leaves.
5. Add onion and sauté well. Add the ground paste and 1 cup or required water. Mix it well
6. Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder and Salt.
7. Mix well, cover and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame. Garnish with coriander leaves
8. Our thakkali kuruma is ready to serve with idli, dosa.
