Toor Dal – 1/2 Cup
Tomato – 2 Nos
Green Chilli – 3 Nos
Ginger
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 Tsp
Rock Salt – 1 Tsp
Water
For Tempering
Ghee – 1 Tbsp
Urad Dal – 1 Tsp
Chana Dal – 1 Tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Red Chilli – 3 Nos
Hing / Asafoetida – 1/4 Tsp
Curry Leaves
Juice Of 1 Lemon
Coriander Leaves
Method:
Tak half cup of toor dal, soak it for an hour.
Transfer the soaked dal and soaked water to a pressure
cooker.
To this add two tomatoes chopped, three green chillies cut
into half, a small piece of ginger finely chopped, quarter tsp
turmeric powder, one tsp rock salt, mix everything together
and pour enough water for cooking.
Close the cooker and pressure cook it till four whistles. Then
open the cooker and slightly mash the dal and keep it aside.
To a small tempering pan, add one tsp of ghee and add one tsp
of urad dal, one tsp of chana dal, half tsp mustard seeds, half
tsp cumin seeds, and roast it.
Add three red chillies cut, quarter tsp asafoetida powder, few
fresh curry leaves and add it to the dal mixture. Mix it all
well.
Squeeze the juice of one lemon, add the chopped coriander
leaves and mix it all together.
Tasty rasam is ready to be served nice and hot.
