Today, we’re bringing you a delicious and creamy Malai Kofta recipe that’s perfect for any special occasion. This restaurant style dish features soft, melt in your mouth koftas made from paneer and potatoes, served in a rich and flavorful gravy. Follow along for step-by-step instructions to create this classic Indian delicacy at home.
Ingredients:
For the Koftas:
200g Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese), grated
2 Medium Potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 tbsp Cornflour / Maida
1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
2 chopped green chillies
1 tbsp chopped ginger
Salt to taste
dry fruits of your choice for stuffing (optional)
Oil for frying
For the Gravy:
2 Large Tomatoes
1 Large Onion, rouughly chopped
15 Cashew Nuts
10 Garlic Paste
2 inch size ginger
20gm butter
1 tsp Red Chili Powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/2 cup Fresh Cream
2 tbsp Oil
1 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
1 tsp kasuri methi
Instructions:
Prepare the Koftas:
In a bowl, mix grated paneer, mashed potatoes, cornflour, ginger, green chilli and salt.
Shape the mixture into small balls stuffed with dry fruits
Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the koftas until golden brown.
Make the Gravy:
In a pan add chopped onions, ginger, garlic, tomato, cashew nuts, 1 cup water and butter Cook for a few minutes. Once it is cool down make a fine puree, use strainer to get the perfect consistency.
In a pan add 1 tbsp oil and 20 gm butter
add red chilli and turmeric powder, saute on low heat for 10 seconds
add ground puree and cook until oil separate
add coriander powder, sugar, kasuri methi and salt to taste and cook for few minutes.
add fresh cream, mix well.
serve hot along with kofta with naan, roti, or steamed rice.
