Homemade Grape Squash
Description :
Ingredients:
Black grapes – 1 kg
Sugar – 400g / 2 cups
Water – 5 cups
Steps:
Wash, clean and remove the grapes from the stem.
Add 5 cups water to cleaned grapes and cook covered till grapes are cooked.
Stir often. Once the grapes become soft, mash them with the back of a ladle.
Cook covered on high flame for another 5 minutes.
Switch off and drain the cooked grapes into a colander.
Press with a ladle to extract the juice. Discard the skin and seeds.
Transfer the drained juice back to the pan.
Add sugar. Bring it to boil and cook until the mixture thickens.
Let it shrink by a quarter.
Switch off. It further thickens on cooling.

Notes:
-You can use seedless grapes or grapes with seeds.
-Make sure that all the utensils used are dry. This is important for the long shelf life of the squash.
-You may flavor the squash with cardamom, cinnamon or lemon juice.To serve, add 1/3 glass of squash to water/soda. Top it with ice cubes. Enjoy your homemade squash!
Store it in the refrigerator.
