SRAVU(SHARK) VATTICHATHU
Description :
INGREDIENTS
Shark(Sravu) : 1/2 kg
Ginger(chopped) : 1 teaspoon
Garlic : 1 teaspoon
Green chilli (optional) : As per the taste
Curry leaves
Red chilli powder : 3 teaspoon
Turmeric powder : 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut pieces : 1 table spoon
Pot tamarind(Kudampuli) : Here I used 2 No.s(As per your tamarind’s sourness)
Salt
water
For seasoning
Coconut oil
Shallots
mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds
Curry leaves
Preparation method
Dry Roast Red chilli powder in very low flame.
Take a clay pot,Mix all the ingredients together except shark ,add 2 cups of water and boil.Once it starts to boil,lower the heat, close the pot and keep for 10 minutes in low flame.Then add cleaned shark and close the pot and cook.10 minutes needed for cooking shark.After 10 minutes ,check the salt and gavy thickness.if it is very loose consistency, open the vessel and change the flame in medium or medium high.It is a thick gravy based fish curry.
Finally seasoned with coconut oil,mustard seeds ,shallots and curry leaves.Keep this for minimum 2 hour,then serve.
