Normally,betel leaves are used for making beeda
Betel leaf has medicinal properties
6-7 garlic pods
1 tsp zeera
1tsp pepper corns
1tsp coriander seeds
3 betel leaf tear and add in mixie along with other
ingredients
discard the two ends of betel leaf
grind it
chopping 5 small betel leaf finely for garnish
There are 2 types of betel leaf
1.white betel leaf(vellai vethalai)
2.black betel leaf(karuppu vethalai)
vellai vethalai is light green color with mild smell
karuppu vethalai is dark green color with pungent smell
use vellai vethalai for recipe to avoid
bitterness and pungent smell
2 tomatoes chopped
betel leaf is auspicious thing given as thamboolam
so dont waste these betel leaf when got as thamboolam
just prepare this rasam even with 2 betel leaf
betel leaf helps digestion
betel leaf cures cold and cough too
1 tbs oil
1/2tsp mustard ,urad dal
betel leaf helps lactating moms to increase breast milk
2 redchillies
some curry leaf
pinch hing
2 tomatoes
1/4tsp turmeric
some salt
ground powder
2cups water
salt
1/4tsp jaggery
keep in sim flame and let the froth collect at top
dont boil the rasam
garnish some betel leaf
serve with rice after a heavy meal
betel leaf is rich in vitamin c,calcium
