Masala Vada

INGREDIENTS
Bengal Gram Dhal – 1/2 Cup
Split Peas (Peas Dhal) – 1/2 Cup
Finely Cut Onions – 1 Cup
Green Chillies – 5
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Salt – 1 Tsp
Oil – For deep frying

METHOD
1. Soak both dhal varieties together in water for 1 hour.
2. Grind chillies, ginger, salt together to smooth paste.
3. Add soaked dhal (drained) and grind coarsely.
4. Mix onions. Prepare small balls. Flatten and deep fry in hot oil until crisp and golden. Serve hot.

Variation:
Grind 1 garlic, red chilli, aniseed also along with ginger, green chillies (Reduce the number of chillies).
